Listen To Maleek Berry's Impressive New EP 'First Daze Of Winter'

January 10, 2017| By Daniel Orubo

After dominating 2017 with hit singles and one of the year's best EP's, Last Daze Of Summer, the talented Maleek Berry is ready to own 2018 as well. He just dropped his highly-anticipated second EP, First Daze Of Winter, and it's every bit as impressive as we expected it to be.

While most Maleek fans — us included — will admit to wanting an LP instead of another EP from the acclaimed producer-turned-artist, it's hard to really complain when what we get is a body of work as solid and assured as this.

Produced entirely by Maleek himself, the six-track EP includes four brand new songs, as well as two familiar bangers, "Been Calling" and "Pon My Mind". It also includes the studio version of "Sisi Maria", the standout track he debuted at his Last Daze Of Summer concert a month ago.

Alongside "Sisi Maria", the best new track on the EP is definitely "Own It" — it would be a sin if Maleek didn't make either of these two tracks his next single. As a whole, First Daze Of Winter is a cohesive project that, while not particularly better, is just as great as Last Daze Of Summer.

Speaking with BBC 1Xtra about the EP, Maleek said:

"The whole concept behind the EP is that it's a lot darker and it's a lot warmer. I'm a lot more emotional on the songs and a lot more vulnerable."
