Blitz The Ambassador's debut Film 'The Burial Of Kojo' is a social awakening

Blitz The Ambassador's artistic talent is a well-known fact, as he has released 4 studio albums and has collaborated with artistes such as Seun Kuti, Nneka and legendary Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo.

The Ghanaian artist has made an official shift from musician to filmmaker, as he is currently shooting his debut film The Burial Of Kojo, a project which has been in the works for over a year.

The Burial Of Kojo follows the tumultuous relationship between two brothers, Kojo and Kwabena. Kojo causes a car accident that tragically kills his brother's new wife on their wedding day, and as a result Kwabena, devices an elaborate plan to seek revenge seven years later.

The movie touches on social issues like sibling rivalry, love, jealousy and also a more specific message on illegal mining. Drawing inspiration from true stories of Ghanaians risking their lives to mine for gold, Blitz The Ambassador wanted to craft a film that gives a view from the inside about the illegal act, rather than from a spectator's point of view.

On the movie's Kickstarter page, Blitz said:

"I wanted to craft a narrative that was personal and intimate, giving the audience a glimpse into a Ghanaian family dealing with love, loss, tragedy, betrayal and sibling rivalry.

So, instead of centering the issues, I centered the people, which is seldom done when Hollywood makes films in Africa. Our objective was to capture the beauty, even when the circumstances weren't beautiful."

The movie is set for release on January 20 and we are definitely intrigued to see this one.
