Listen to Okmalumkoolkat's new LP

The icon of the authentic SA Hip Hop Okmalumkoolkat has released a new LP. For the time being Mlazi Milano is available exclusively on Apple Music, the competing platforms having yet to content themselves with the single "Ntwana Yam" uploaded last summer.

This is the first Okmalumkoolkat‘s official album (malum meaning uncle in zulu), which at 33 years is paradoxically one of the most creative MCs of the South African scene. His recent releases like the mixtape "100K Macasette" or his collaborations with rappers like KO or Mashayabhuqe Ka Mamba and of course the arrival of the video 'Usangikhumbula', an house hit produced by Kid Fonque, brought his fans to a critical stage of impatience. Here they are finally rewarded by an simply magistral album.

With 17 tracks, “Mlazi Milano” unfolds a very rich local cast: Spoek Mathambo, Petite Noir, AKA, The Brother Moves On, Riky Rick, Mashayabhuqe Ka Mamba ... The album begins by paying homage to tradition ('Bayavuma'), then to the origins of the rapper who grew up in a Durban township called Mlazi ('Mlazi Milano'), and of course to a slightly re-established Kwaito  in 'Ntwana Yam', as well as to the maskandi thanks to the digital figure of the style, the rapper Mashayabhuqe Ka Mamba in 'Mathananazane Wami'.
