Oshun throws us from Nairobi another Afrofuturist marvel for "East"
An atypical duo formed by Niambi and Thandi, both originally from Washington and now living in New York, OSHUN takes its name from a tribute to the Yoruba goddess (Osun) of the river and her sisters Iyemoja and Oya who represent femininity. The goal of the two friends? To share the divine and peaceful omnipresence of Osun with as many people as possible. As for their music, they themselves call it Iya-sol: a crossbreeding between their spiritual universe, neo-soul and hip-hop that draws links between Floetry, Lauryn Hill and Chief Keef.
Present on the Delux edition of their already classic debut album (Bittersweet, Vol. 1) the track East has just got a very inspired video made by AnAkA and as always with Oshun in a very assumed Afrofuturistic style. Shot in Nairobi, we see the two comrades just out of their flying saucer and accompanied by their companion and everyday producer Proda wandering in a city that seems to belong to them, distilling their cosmic vibe around every corner.
This video is a true delight, enjoy.
